Falena:You hold it up to the lights for a second before slipping the earring into your left ear. You shake your head a bit to get a feel for it, and it isn’t too heavy.
The man turns to leave and it dawns on you that he just gave you an earring that’s worth three month’s pay for you.
“Hey, wait!” You run a few paces to catch up with him.
“Ah…thanks! For the earring. Um, I didn’t catch your name by the way… If you’re going to be staying on planet for any length of time, perhaps I can show you around? It’s the least I can do.”
((pff, I think it’s great! xD thats part of the fun of rping in a galaxy full of aliens))
Lazza:
Name… he hadn’t thought of that, how rude! Lazza stopped abruptly to smile widely at her and bow with a flourish, his braids sliding forward over his shoulders. “Call me Lazza. My real name is in a mouthful for most not familiar with the tongue. A really obnoxious language. I could really use a guide, but first might I inquire what your name is m’lady?”
He was extraordinarily polite. Why not? He could use the guide, and he wasn’t counting on getting anything in return for the earring he gave away to avoid total shame and embarrassment when he got back to the ship.
Falena:You nod. “Ah yes…That’s more your style I think.” You then walk up to get a better look at the pricetag and a look of mild dismay crosses your face. “That is…if you can afford it. The price is a bit steep.”
You know you could never afford something like that, not with your current pay. And on closer inspection, most of the stand’s wares were out of your league. These were the accessories of someone who lead a much more decadent lifestyle.
Lazza:
With a beaming grin, he patted her on the shoulder. “Good then, I’ll get it.” He looked at the price tag as an afterthought. Then he fumbled around in his pockets until he found the cred-stick he was looking for.
Lazza handed the cred-crystal over to the vendor and specified, “Just the one, I don’t want to be symmetrical… it’s more alone? Oh, alright I’ll take the set then … WHAT? A Mydian Triphage set? … but… that’s THREE … Frak, give it to me anyways it costs the same as a normal set anyways… “
Normal was relative to your species. Mydians, had ears, but the earrings weren’t meant to be one per ear. They were meant to be one per person. Mydian ‘couples’ were actually a triadic pairing. Three earrings meant one for each member of the triad. The three pieces were identical but each set was one of a kind.
Lazza was stubornly refusing to back out of the purchase just because he’d end up with three instead of one… but what to do with three? He could resell one or two or give it way, but that would either be sacrilegious to his Mydian friends, or worse, if they ever found out he split a Triphage set.
He looked back at Falena as the vendor was packing them into a box. “One moment,” Lazza interrupted the man as he snatched an earring and handed it over to Falena.
“Thanks for the help,” he said to the troll girl with another friendly pat before he turned to leave with the other two in hand.
Yup. Give it to some stranger. No connections. No giving your friends the wrong idea… he’ll just claim he only got two… and the set wasn’t a Triphage or anything.
((Let me know if I’m making up too much stuff. The whole Mydian thing is totally… improvised.))
Falena:You move you hand to your chin and furrow your brow, seriously considering it.
“I really like it, but it’s a bit understated for you, don’t you think?”
Not that it didn’t coordinate with his outfit that night, but you were more interested in fashions that highlighted aspects of a person’s personality than ones that had a perfect aesthetic.
And if his current style didn’t scream “BOLD” then his unconscious psychic profile did. You couldn’t glean much from him that way while he was awake, but you could gather that much.
Lazza:
The drow space pirate laughed, “Understated? You’re so right!” He put the earring back on the display and pointed to another one that was phosphorescent white translucent Mydian opal with their special tri-silver platinum for the beads, coil, and hook. “What about this one?” He asked the troll.
Huh, she seemed to have good color sense with what she wore… and that eyeshadow. Good touch. Oh this was fun! No one on his ship, not even the other women, cared to help him with his shopping. The races he worked with didn’t have his same taste in color and garments. Ifni! Some didn’t even need to wear garments, but did out of respect.
((‘Ifni’ is like an exclamation such as “crap,” “wow,” or “damn” from a sci fi novel I read. You can expect me to fill in random details by pulling ideas outta my arse, or by using references to other shows/ books. … I think it’s ‘ifni’ … haven’t read that series in years.))
Falena:You’ve done your grocery shopping, and you’ve stopped by one of the stands, enraptured by the colorful hanging ornaments the vendor had on display.
You weren’t sure where in your hive you could hang such things of course. The small hive you were able to keep with the money you made on this new planet had a low ceiling, and you’d most likely run into them and get them caught in your horns.
So distracted were you by this train of thought that you are slightly surprised when you look away and see the black-skinned alien in the kiosk next to yours staring at you.
“Well, hello. Did you need something, sir?”, you say in an airy offhand way.
Lazza:
Lazza’s face broke into a cheesy grin. “Hey, hi… how are you doing? … No, nope, no help needed… unless,” He picked up one of the earrings he had been gawking at a moment ago and held it up to his ear, “… you think this one looks good?” He almost had spouted off, ‘Hey! You’re a troll!’ but used the earring to cover up his surprise at being caught. His emotions easily displayed on his face, a far cry from most of his people, whom he’d nearly forgotten about in his stay in space.
A young troll stands on a busy street, on an alien planet, far from the boundaries of the Alternian Empire. It was on this night several solar sweeps ago that this resourceful lady managed to escape the Alternian Fleet.
But wait! We haven’t been properly introduced to this intrepid troll woman yet.
Your name is Falena Gluhen, and right now you are at the local marketplace, browsing for groceries, and perhaps another fancy lamp to add to your growing collection. You are feeling celebratory tonight.
Also of note tonight, a fairly large ship has landed in town to stock up on supplies. The alien crew are out and about, enjoying the sights and mingling with the locals.
Tonight certainly promises to be an interesting one, for one reason or another.
Lazza:
Off the ship! Off the ship finally! How long had they been traveling? Oh who cares! He hopped off the lift and stretched his legs, one of the last to leave since had to put the ship into dock… being the pilot had its priories. But a week to run amuk. It was going to be fun.
He was wearing his ‘play’ clothes too… sashes, jewelry, jacket, belt… the whole nine yards and his PRETTY white boots. If it wasn’t for a special matte lacquer the white leather would have had ten layers of oil on it. Alien crafts were the best.
Now to the bazaar!… or market place… or wherever they had bright and shiny trinkets. Something new to tinker with would be great. Ooohh… and maybe some benign souvenir like an earring to match his pretty white boots he was wearing.
He caught sight of a gray-skinned humanoid with black hair and tri-colored horns as he pursued one of the jewelry vendor’s wares. …. Was that? No… Couldn’t be…. he heard about the tri-colored horns… but didn’t their space end about a dozen quadrants away? She’d be far from home. Lazza was staring.
Kay, so I’ve been working on a sprite for an AU RP I’m going to be doing with Falena.
Is this a good sprite do you think? Or is it too matchy-matchy with the coordinating dress and makeup?
Hmmm… Not too matchy matchy yet. Though a bright green or white for eyeshadow may make your eyes just pop! Stay away from red, gold, or orange shoes. I think a nice white or gold would be fantastic. … I might have some white boots if you need…
Before, after, and a bonus Star Trekky uniform top.
Looking fabulous! Navy blue suits you.
